Get Outside and Find Joy!

Yesterday I had a business meeting in Culver City. My GPS put me on the quickest route, as they are prone to do, and it was not the way I would have chosen to go…the way that was familiar to me. Normally that would have caused me some anxiety, taking an unfamiliar route to an unfamiliar destination. In fact, every time I have to take this certain freeway I get some degree of anxiety because the traffic is always sooooo heavy. I’m constantly wondering what I’ll do if I have to use the restroom and there’s nowhere to pull over. Irrational, much? I have been working on shifting my paradigm regarding this issue. Perhaps if I convince myself that I’m on an adventure, then I can enjoy the scenic drive. It is really beautiful after all.
Anyway, I got to the meeting in one piece and felt relieved. After we were done I had a little bit of a walk to get to my car. On the way I actually took notice of everything around me…families laughing and enjoying each other’s company, brightly colored decorations all around, and a wonderful breeze that felt like gentle kisses from the wind! It was a glorious day. I wondered why I was rushing to get home (aside from the fact that Covid-19 is still among us and we still need to exercise an abundance of caution).
The point is that life is outside! Joy is out there just waiting to be found. Shift your paradigm if you have to and get out there to find it! Stay joyful, my friends!
