It’s the middle of October already! Can you believe it? It seems that this year is flying by so very quickly. The weather is changing… no more long summer days or warm nights. As the seasons change, sometimes it can bring a little sadness. We don’t normally want to leave what’s familiar and comfortable to get thrust into a new routine. Our children are back in school, COVID is still with us and with it comes great uncertainty, some of us have transitioned back into working in the office instead of from home. Outside, the landscape has changed. The trees are ornately dressed with vibrant colors. Some of the leaves have fallen to the ground creating such enticing mounds that crunch so deliciously under foot. This is autumn!
There is so much beauty in October! Besides the picturesque splendor outside the window, there’s Halloween. Although I do not celebrate Halloween, I do enjoy seeing the decorations and lights around the neighborhood. I love seeing the pumpkin patches, petting zoos, and the décor that magically appears in the stores and parking lots all around. There is so much joy on the faces of the children anticipating Trick-or-Treat time. October is alive and thriving.
All of this beauty reminds me that there is a season and a reason for everything on Earth. The Bible tells us that. It is sometimes necessary to let go of some things in order to allow new things to come. Find the joy in revival. Newness can be satisfying if you are open to the small details.

Happy Autumn! Stay joyful, my friends.
