JUST DO IT

About 2 weeks ago I had the honor of helping the Black Business Women Rock network celebrate its 10- year anniversary! For 10 years they (under the stellar leadership of my friend, Natalyn Randle) have been the wind beneath the wings of many Black business women nation-wide. This organization is a pillar in the community offering networking opportunities throughout the year. Natalyn is such a humble, dynamic, and lovely person that her light radiates to everyone around her!

When I met her in 2017 she offered me the chance to speak on mental health at the annual BBWR conference that year. I have been volunteering to work her events ever since. This weekend was a beautiful awards ceremony where many women were recognized for their outstanding work in business and impact on their communities. It is so important to realize that we are not in this alone. We each need a village to help us reach our goals. Not to mention we learn so much from each other if we are open to receive.

The underlying theme that kept arising as the individual speeches went forth was that when you accept your assignment in life, you really don’t know what you signed up for. There are so many beautiful things that happen when you say, “yes”! It’s not your job to see the entire picture up front. You cannot possibly know how many lives you will touch through your work. The important part is to simply be willing and grateful for your chance. Put in the work and greatness will follow. So do it…do it scared…do it exhausted…do it with your knees knocking and voice shaking…do it for yourself. Just DO IT!
